Benefits

Rather than a hair-by-hair approach (such as with electrolysis), laser hair removal treats multiple hairs and follicles with each laser pulse.  Both small and large areas can be treated, including the face, underarms, back, chest, legs and arms.

Because we have multiple FDA-approved lasers, we are able to treat different hair and skin types. Laser hair removal is possible even for people with darker skin.

How It Works

During laser hair removal, pigmented hairs and the melanin in the follicle absorb the laser light which is converted to heat, effectively disabling the hair germinating cells.  At the same time, the skin surface is protected by a cooling cryogen spray.  Because hair grows in cycles, several treatment sessions are required.  Laser hair removal is an efficient way to achieve permanent hair reduction, smoother skin, and it requires no downtime. Patients can resume most daily activities immediately after treatment.

What To Expect

How It Feels

A pinprick or ‘snapping rubber band’ sensation is followed by a flush to the skin.

Treatment Time

From a few minutes to an hour or longer depending on the size of the area treated.

Downtime

Can immediately resume most daily activities. A ‘pimply reaction’, termed perifollicular edema is not uncommon and usually settles within a few hours.

Frequency

Typically, 6 treatment sessions spaced every 4-8 weeks are performed. However, depending on skin color, hair color, and location of area treated, 8 or more sessions may be required and future maintenance treatments are recommended.
